The top things to do at Montreal’s La Ronde

Get ready for a season of thrills, good food and spectacular shows at Montreal’s La Ronde. Whether you’re chasing the thrill of roller coasters, gearing up to try decadent foods, or enjoying the many events and festivals in the park, there is never a dull moment. La Ronde offers over 40 attractions, meaning there is something for the young and the young at heart.

Created for Expo 67, the amusement park has been a fun staple in Montreal for 56 years. La Ronde is Canada’s second-largest theme park and has everything from the monstrous Goliath roller coasts to the bustling, family-oriented Ribambelle’s Land. Plus, there are all new events and restaurants for you to enjoy this year.

With so much to see and do, where do you even start? Here are six things to enjoy on your next visit to La Ronde.

Chase the thrills

La Ronde has so much to offer for thrill-seekers and rollercoaster lovers. If you’re brave enough, ride the Goliath for a maximum thrill level over loops, sharp turns, and steep drops as you soar above the park. Standing over 50 metres tall, it is a hypercoaster reaching 110 kilometres per hour and four G’s.

New to the park this year is La Ronde’s Adrenaline Nights. On September 9, 16 and 23, you can enjoy the thrills of the rides in the dark. Plus, there will be DJs and live performers creating the soundtrack to an epic evening of adrenaline.

Fun for the whole family

Little ones will love Ribambelle’s Land, filled with family-friendly rides and entertainment tailored towards kids. With rides like Le Grande Envolée, children can enjoy soaring through the sky in a hot air balloon gondola that tilts and bobs through the air. Or your family can take on the Toboggan Nordique. Hit the slopes all summer long on this four-person sled. Slide over a narrow track that reaches heights of 12 metres. You’ll feel like you’re gliding down the slopes of a world-class ski resort as you navigate a maze.

On hot summer days, cool off with Aqua Twist, a boat ride where you can spray each other with water. No one leaves the Aqua Twist completely dry; it’s a spray-or-be-sprayed ride.

Plus, there are many great festivals and events that La Ronde hosts that promise fun for the whole family. Watch as La Ronde attempts to break the world record for the largest Beaver Tails Pastry at the Extreme Flavours event this summer. Or enjoy fall-themed games at La Ronde’s Pumpkin Festival.

Get festive this fall

Bring the whole family out for La Ronde’s pumpkin festival. Running every weekend from October 7 to 29, celebrate fall and Halloween with the entire family. You can enjoy autumn-themed games, mazes, and so much more at the festival.

Following a day of family fun, when the clock strikes 5 p.m., the Pumpkin Festival gives way to an evening of horror. La Ronde’s Fright Fest is the scariest in Quebec, featuring bone-chilling installations and haunted houses. Plus, Fright Fest starts with the opening show, “L’éveil de la frayeur,” featuring 20 characters sure to horrify audiences. It’s getting even better this year as La Ronde is adding an all-new haunted house and new characters to their Fright Fest programming.

Food festivals

For food lovers, you can’t miss La Ronde’s food festivals. From July 15 to 30, enjoy La Ronde’s Extreme Flavours event. Whether you want something sweet, spicy or extravagant, you’re sure to find you’re craving at Extreme Flavours. Watch as the park attempts to break the record for the largest Beaver Tails pastry ever, and take in and enjoy the food, contests and challenges.

Head to the park every weekend from September 2 to October 1 for the second edition of the Food and Brew event. Discover over 30 beers and cocktails while you celebrate the crisp fall weather. Fort Edmonton transforms into a food lovers’ paradise with food trucks, entertainment and music.

New food and drink

Quench your thirst with one of two new container bars within the park. Here you’ll find a wide selection of beers, cocktails and frosty mocktails.

Or visit the Klondike coffee counter for all your caffeine needs. This specialty coffee counter features cold and hot drinks. Try the Klondike cold brew coffee or shaken ice teams as the perfect refreshers for those hot La Ronde visits.

Plus, you’ll want to take a bite of the chicken and waffles from the Nugget, one of La Ronde’s new on-site restaurants. The Nugget’s chicken sandwich with savoury fried chicken served on waffles and smothered in a sweet and spicy sauce.

Or head to the new The Station in Fort Edmonton for customizable grilled burgers. Featuring over 18 toppings and sauces, The Station allows you to create the perfect burger to cure your hunger during a day in the park. Whether you pair your creation with fries, onion rings or deep-fried cheese curds, you’ll enjoy this specialty-curated dining experience.
